Born at the tail end of the Baby Boom generation in Brew City, John grew up in Milwaukee and graduated from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where he majored in Advertising.
While at Minnesota, John was the President of the student ad club and worked as a sales rep for the Minnesota Daily, the largest college newspaper in the country.
Before graduation, John received offers from several of the top ad agencies in New York and Chicago. He accepted a position with Campbell-Mithun in Chicago, where he worked on the Kroger supermarket account, the largest chain in America.
John was lured to Southern California, where he worked at the legendary New York-based advertising agency Della Femina Travisano, which at the time was arguably one of America’s top creative shops. During his tenure there, he worked on the PSA Airlines and Sheraton Hotel business.
He spent time in San Diego working on the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, as well as Atlas Hotels, before returning to Los Angeles to work once again on the Sheraton Hotel business for Wells, Rich, Greene.
John was recruited to the regional advertising agency MMMC, where he worked on a variety of business, including Buick, 3 Day Blinds, Crown Prince Seafoods and Century 21 Real Estate Corporation.
In 1995, John started the advertising agency The Action Group in Los Angeles, growing the Century 21 regional business from one state to 20 Western states. His other clients included a variety of start-ups and larger companies, including assignments from Mattel Toys, and several technology start-ups including HomeSeekers.com, Tornado Development, and FastPoint Communications.
In 2002, John started Fireball Marketing, a hybrid advertising/new media agency and has worked on various clients, including Siemens, GE Healthcare, Abbott Medical Optics, Fujitsu, Futurekids, Instanet Solutions, Verizon, and Proxio, among others.
An avid outdoorsman, John has summited all 58 mountain peaks higher than 14,000 feet in Colorado and has over 100 to his credit. He loves the challenge of mountain climbing and the preparation, diligence, and exhilaration of high altitude sports.
An accomplished and published writer, John is up to speed on the latest digital marketing and advertising trends, including paid and organic search, social media, video production, all forms of creative and website development, and search engine optimization.
John loves working with companies of all sizes but especially enjoys small to mid-sized companies where he can make the biggest impact. He relishes the role of a company’s permanent or outsourced marketing department, where he can bring his wide skillset and network of vetted professionals to solve the toughest sales and marketing programs.
He is part owner of an NFL franchise (the Green Bay Packers, the only professional team that is publically owned), but don’t hold that against him.
John currently works as the Director of Marketing for Seniors’ Resource Center in Denver, CO.
